I am a native English speaker, holding a PhD in archaeology. With 12 years experience as a university educator, I have viewed and corrected every sort of writing, from the most professional to the least, and done so within the academic time budget, which is usually tight. My personal scholarly work has resulted in over 220, 000 words of theses, all rendered at full academic literary standard, and I am highly proficient in both academic and commercial English. I use English at the level of the 99th percentile, and as a writer of fiction I have placed some 65 short stories to date with international magazines.
Very little information is presented in your job listing thus I am unable to make an absolutely firm projection of time or cost. How long is the article? How complex? My base rate is usually US$20/hr, but I would be in a better position to adjust this if I knew more about the task. I’m projecting US$140 (seven hours hands-on work) and three days as a general bracket, the time actually taken will depend upon the degree of editing the manuscript calls for. I will, however, do my best to match my initial quote.
Rest assured, all basic English issues can be addressed, as well as suggestions for improvement wherever appropriate.
There will be lower bidders than me, but experience really does count. I recently completed an academic proofing and enhancing job (~12000 words) for a scholar and received five-star feedback, so am very much “in the groove” for this type of work.
