Develop a Database to Manage Equipment Rental and Sales Business

We have recently purchased a business that provides commercial shop refrigeration and also vending machines on a rental or purchase basis. The business is currently managed with a series of excel spreadsheets for each business line; Refrigeration Rental, Refrigeration Sales and Vending Machine Sales.
We wish to move to a database to replace the spreadsheet based management system currently in place. MS Access seems to be the system that most small organizations use, however we are open to suggestions on alternative solutions. We have a very simple network in our Office and so we would require a simple solution such as a split access database with the back end for data and the front end for forms etc, but again we are open to suggestions. Our PC's rum Windows 7 or Windows 8. We currently do not have Access so would need to purchase licenses if Access is your recommendation.
We are open to awarding an initial project for a small fee to one or more potential providers to further scope the requirements with us in order to produce a more detailed requirements spec which would form the basis of a further freelancer project to provide a more accurate estimate of total costs to provide the finished product.
Please provide detail in your response on how you would work with us to understand the information flows within our business. Please also provide some detail on your experience in designing and implementing these types of database solutions.
Basic requirements are (but not limited to);
* Easy to use, intuitive data input forms and menu structure
* We will have potentially multiple business names / entities in the near future
* Initially there is no need to interface to MYOB, however we would eventually like to import invoices into our MYOB accounts system. This is not part of this requirement but is included here so you understand where we would like to include later.
For Refrigeration Rental Equipment
* Customer Detail Records
* Site Detail records for Rentals (multiple sites for each customer)
* Equipment Inventory Records that identifies equipment details, rental agreement details, service provider details and tracks equipment movements (returns etc) for rentals (multiple equipment items for each site) allocated to each site
* Purchase Order generation for service requests for faulty hire equipment
* Refrigeration Returns work order that provided on Equipment Return
* Refrigeration Works Order ( checklist) for Equipment outgoing for rental
* Delivery and Pick up Request Forms (Purchase orders) for instructions for the delivery company
* Delivery Labels for attaching to outgoing deliveries
* Monthly Rental Invoice generation for selected customers that takes into account equipment inventory movement
* Monthly detail reports for selected (larger) customers
* A single Monthly overview report showing the total bill amount (that takes into account equipment inventory movement) and payment details for each customer
For Refrigeration Sales
* Customer Detail Records
* Sales Records that identifies each sales with detail such as billing and delivery address, equipment details, sale price , delivery charge (including adding tax) etc
* Refrigeration Works Order ( checklist) for Equipment outgoing for Sale
* Delivery and Pick Up Request Forms (Purchase orders) for instructions for the delivery company
* Delivery Labels for attaching to outgoing deliveries
* Sales Invoice generation for for all Sales
For Vending Machine Sales
* Customer Detail Records
* Sales Records that identifies each sales with detail such as billing and delivery address, equipment details, sale price, delivery charge (including adding tax) etc
