I am an licensed loan officer in California and works as independent contractors or mortgage
broker working with many lenders at the same time. My service is about helping homeowner or home buyer to find out which lenders have the right loan programs for their financial needs. For every borrower serviced, I would receive a good commission from the lender who provide the loan to the borrower. Needless to say, the more borrowers I could helped, the more commission would go to my bank account. More specifically, There are two kind of work for loan officer to complete a mortgage loan deal: one is technical work, and the other is customer service. Technical portion include borrower’s qualification, defining the right loan program for each loan scenario, and calculating the cost of borrowing a loan. Only licensed loan officers are supposed do the technical work due to the government regulation. Therefore the only job left for assistants should do is the customer service including cold calling, telemarketing, collect borrowers financial information and documentation, help borrower in mortgage loan application.
