Here's the situation...
My ISP is screwing me.
I've got a package that's supposed to be 512kbps download and 256 kbps upload...
Problem is, it never runs at that speed.
I conduct speed tests over @ [login to view URL], and very rarely does it provide me with actual 512kbps download... I know I'll never see 512, but at least 500... or at the very least 450. Well, I've done tests where my download has been 28kbps... LESS THAN A MODEM! And uploads? Uff... less than 5kbps.
In addition to the non-speedy conection, I get very erratic performance. I play xBox online (xbox live), and I might be playing perfectly for 50 minutes... then the shit breaks down. I get lag... I get disconnected... etc.
My ISP doesn't want to cooperate. I get endless hours of waiting on the phone. They tell me they've got a 'small problem' and that I should have everything working fine by next week... problem is, next week my connection still sucks!
Because of this, I've decided to make a lawsuit against my ISP. Well, I need proof for my lawsuit... so, that's what I want.
I want a program that I can run in my computer, and with no attention from my part, it will conduct speed tests (with [login to view URL]), then copy/paste the results into a .txt file.
This text file should be formatted as such that I can copy/paste the entire file into Excel and get everything lined up. All data should be correctly placed in their respective fields.
I also would like to conduct ping tests.. as everytime I do this, I get various ping tests failed.
I want the program to do speed tests every 15 minutes, and attach to the text file. I'd also like the program to put a "0" (zero) value when there's no connection... because that's another thing: the connection get's non-service a lot. Like 7 or 8 times in one week.
I want to log ALL of this. I need this proof. Results needed are download speed, upload speed and ping (100% success? 50% success?)
I'm open to using another speed site that isn't [login to view URL], but it has to be reputable. It can't be a small site. Something with 'name'. And no, do not make the program connect to your own site or something similar. Again, a site that's accessible to the public. I know that [login to view URL] uses Java for its test, so you need to take that into consideration. And the ping test of DSLreports is a special program that you need to download and have an account with them to use.
I'm open to suggestions. If there's a program that's out there for free, please tell me, and I'll give you the project $ if it works for my needs.
Thank you for your time, and I'm shooting for a win/win situation for both of us.
Best to you,
In about a week I should be able to make a decent program with the capabilities that you are looking for. It will monitor various connection speeds and create log files.
