Ideas required for home design making use of views and sun light

I'm planning on building a house and looking to make best use of the views and sunlight. The house will most likely be a dormer bungalow (or storey and a half) subject to planning permission. I would like to have an open plan kitchen, dining and living area downstairs. An office/bedroom and a utility/plant room would exist downstairs also. Upstairs would ideally have 3 bedrooms (one master bedroom with en-suite) and 1 bathroom and hot-press. Before I commit to a design I'm looking to get some ideas on how best to use sunlight and the superb mountain and bay views. This is a house in Ireland where the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. So, most of the sunlight (and heat) will come from the South during the day and be coming from the West in the evenings when we would make most use of it (by use of a patio area). The attached image outlines the site and where I would like the home to be built. There are two possible access paths marked in red. There are superb views of mountains looking North East mainly (and East). It would be ideal if this view was incorporated into the kitchen/living area but there is no sun coming from this side of the house for the most part of the day. South East overlooks a bay which is quite far away but decent due to the height of the site. Normally the house would face South East looking onto the road where the access paths come from but I'm open to suggestions for facing it a different way (although not North or North West facing). The home will be very efficient and will be making use of renewable energy. I'm not looking a detailed drawing at this stage but a simple sketch or any viewpoints on how best to maximise the use of views and sunlight. For example, how can I get sunlight from South and West into the house to brighten up the areas that have the best views (i.e. North East).
