I have worked with several aluminum extruders over the years & have over 20 years of design experience. I have a few questions about your project however. Do you have a profile picked out or one that you are using already? Is there going to multiple versions of this for different customers? Would you be open to changing this to an hourly project and keeping it open for future iterations? My proposal is to design the system in 3D (SolidWorks) and convert all the part & assembly models to 2D (AutoCAD). This includes a 3D Exploded view with BOM per each unique customer's design.
