Am a teacher of English and English Literature. Am teaching both collages and high school as a part timer. Below is a sample of my introduction to Phonetics and Phonology at college topic. This paper aims at observing and comparing the data set of English Language and that of Kikuyu language. Two frameworks are compared, i.e. the Sound Pattern of English and that of the kikuyu language. Within the discussion, approaches form other theories will also be highlighted; however, the main point addressed in this paper is to evaluate the data set of English Language and that of Kikuyu language on the basis of place of articulation of the consonants. Phonological theories within the two frameworks are also involved.
