Demonstrate Tableau REST API / Postman to upload templates / update change data sources

Currently, we have 45 clients that leverage our Tableau online portal. There are about 100 total users. Each of the 45 clients data are stored in their own database spread across ~12 mysql servers. Only the admin has any kind of tableau online publishing rights. Our dilemma is each time an update to a template needs to go out to each customer, our tableau analyst spends a great deal of time manually making updates and republishing 45 templates that need to be stored in 45 different projects. This project is to prove the concept of leveraging the tableau rest api (or some programmatic tableau solution). The project needs to produce working api scripts that demonstrate the following examples with our current Tableau online site. 1 - create 2 new projects 2 - publish a tableau workbook with extract - one to each new project with different server and database (file must be stored on a local computer or stored on tableau online in a templates project folder) 3 - update data source (server and database name and login in and credentials 4 - publish a datasource 5 - create one new user and set permissions for this user (to access the new project, with a viewer license and explorer settings - so ability to filter, etc but no publishing or saving) 6 - query all of the datasources used on our site (e.g, server and database name) References : [login to view URL]
