Academic Writing about a Modern Chair

The chair to be deconstructed is the Le Petit Confort Armchair LC-2 designed by Le Corbusier. The paper will conduct an in-depth investigation into Le Corbusier and his modern utopian ideal of society and social living and how that is evident in the design of the chair. Le Corbusier had the utopian ideal of the modular home, which never came to realization. His chairs reflected this modularity in their shape and form. Le Corbusier was the spearhead of the Bauhaus and used his friends in high places to get contracts in order to fulfill this modern utopian ideal. He imagined the perfect home, man and family which doesn’t exist in reality. He designed very modern dwellings that were impractical, yet had clean lines and were simple. He believed that everyone should live in the same style of houses, which was a very Marxist idea. As an architect, Le Corbusier had an all-encompassing vision of the home and society which then lent itself to the designs of his furniture for the homes he was also designing.
