Create a story in script format (dialogue-based) for the purposes of teaching conversational English.

Main requirement: We are an English teaching company that concentrates solely on developing and improving English conversation skills to ‘English as a Second Language (ESL)’ students. We have developed a 40-lesson plan to achieve our goals. Each lesson follows a three-step approach: 1. Vocab – Teach the definitions of the 1,000 most common written English words (now referred to as ‘1000 words’). Approximately 25 words per lesson. 2. Function – Implicitly teach word function by showing how words interact with each other to form a particular meaning 3. Story (speech) – Expose students to ‘real’ dialogue in the form of a story to reinforce the definitions of the 1000 words and to cement correct sentence construction (i.e. subject-verb-object: I ate the apple). We require a creative writer to develop our stories section who also has experience or qualifications in writing for ESL audiences. What we require: - Length. A 40-episode story with approximately 300 words per episode - Dialogue. Speech and events to closely mimic real-world conversations (but exaggeration can be used to increase audience interest) – Must keep to attachment 2 dialogue format. - Effect. Engaging and unique story plot for intended audience (please refer to audience demographic). Each episode should start/leave the audience wanting to continue reading. - Sentence structure. Aim to write simple sentences structures for the earlier episodes changing to slightly more complex structures for the later episodes. - Consistency. Structure should remain as consistent as possible so the audience can pick up on patterns. For example, if subject-verb-adverb is used (e.g. It rained heavily) then the episode should stick with that structure (e.g. She ran quickly) and not change to subject-adverb-verb (i.e. She quickly ran) - No slang unless absolutely necessary for story plot - Intended audience demographic 18-35 year old, male and female Asians (predominately Korean, Japanese, Chinese). English ability: Band 3 (IELTS Assessment Criteria: Speaking) - Good understanding of English alphabet and the sounds produced by each letter - Uses simple vocabulary to convey information - Attempts basic sentence forms but with limited success - Has limited ability to link simple sentences Selection criteria: - Relevant qualifications and/or experience in writing - Knowledge and/or professional experience in linguistics or a related discipline - Understanding of Asian social characteristics and habits is desirable - Submission of an engaging and unique plot outline For complete project details, please refer to Attachment 1 - Story Project Description.
