I'm using some older COM Objects within a newer .Net application written in VB.Net (Visual Studio 2010).
Everything works fine, however I need to verify the version of the COM used.
The COM Object is based on a DLL file which is part of another commercial program.
The version of the COM is important as the functionality and behaviour changes from version to version.
I can check the version of the DLL file by checking the properties of the file (i.e. [login to view URL] -- File version 6.5.0.1037) however this must be done at runtime time inside the application.
The challenge is that these DLL can be installed in different places on the client machines, often times in many places within the same machine (even though only one if the active one. I think they are registered in the windows registry).
What I'm looking is a piece of code written in VB.Net (Visual Studio 2010) that provides the actual version of the DLL file. I'm using the following statement to instantiate the object
po = CreateObject("VMFGPUR.PurchaseOrder.1")
The deliverable of this project is few lines of code in simple text and an explanation of how it works.
