Brief Description: The core business objective for this project is to deliver web-based service that will perform a fast and detailed scan operation on each PC that calls it over the web, retrieving hardware configuration and installed software information about that machine and collating that information in a standardized format. General Functionality: • The application should be a web-based service; • The application needs to be triggered / started by the user of a PC calling up that particular site (using a URL click through from an email, for example); • The application needs to perform a fast and detailed scan operation to retrieve hardware configuration and installed software information about that machine. • The application needs to gather the information without installing any client side program; • The application needs to gather the information without needing any further programs to be installed on the machine first (e.g. ActiveX, Java or otherwise); • The application needs to gather the information irrespective of operating system (XP, Win2000, Win Vista). Being able to do the same with Win98, Win Server 2003, Linux, Mac would be a bonus; • The application needs to gather the information irrespective of the user's authentication level on the machine in use; • The application needs to gather the information irrespective of internet browser that the user’s PC loads the link in. • An administration web page should be developed to allow the Project Consultant to log on and see the status of activity with a particular project • Appropriate error-handling needs to be built into each stage of the application workflow. This should capture failed, aborted and unexpected activities. Appropriate logging, re-launch / re-try after errors and error messaging (end-user and debugging) should be built into to the application. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition (depending on the nature of the deliverables): - For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. - For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Project Consultant Machine: Windows XP, Mozilla Firefox / IE Browser, MS SQL Server 2000 Client Audit Machines: Operating System - Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Linux, Mac Internet Browser - Internet Explorer (v5, 6, 7), Firefox, Gecko, Netscape, Safari, Konqueror, Opera, AOL Neither machine should be required to have Java / ActiveX or other such programmes installed for this application to function.
