COM compatible DLL needed

Our product, AIMSonScene, is a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) program with an existing socket based application programmer’s interface (API). We need a COM compatible dll that implements the existing 83 API calls and triggers events for each outbound API message. A utility is also needed that allows others to easily monitor API events and test API functionality. The API messages, both inbound and outbound, generally contain header information and a command code followed by data in a delimited string. ## Deliverables Business Objectives We need to provide a COM compatible dll that implements all of the existing API calls and triggers events as information is received from the API. We also need to provide a utility that will allow programmers to easily monitor API events and test the functionality of API calls with out having to insert/change their own code. High level objectives include: • Provide COM compatible dll that implements all inbound API calls and triggers events as information is received from the API. • The dll should have a licensing mechanism that is required when the control is being used in a development environment. • The dll should not require a license when being redistributed for use by the end users of AIMSonScene and not in a development environment. • Provide a test utility that listens for and displays all API events and allows users to test all API calls. • The test utility should provide a method of input that restricts the user from using invalid formats. • The dll and the test utility should be written in C#. • The code to produce the control will be part of the deliverable so we may continue to upgrade the control as the API changes. • The code to produce the testing utility will be part of the deliverable so we may continue to upgrade the utility as the API changes. Functionality The dll created should support the following general functionality: • The dll should be usable by .NET developers, Visual Basic 6 developers, and Delphi developers. • The dll should allow the users to set the port number that connects to AIMSonScene. • The dll should allow users to set the required properties such as Sender, Role and Heartbeat. • The dll should trigger an event if the heartbeat is lost (when set to notify). • The dll should be able to confirm a command was processed and trigger an event if not processed with in a configurable time frame. • The dll should allow the user to set the given time frame for a command response. • The dll should provide methods for users to submit all 83 existing API commands with the appropriate parameters. • The dll should validate all required parameters. • The dll should listen for outbound (from AIMSonScene) events and trigger a specific event for each of the possible API events allowing the user to handle as desired. • The dll should be versioned so developers are not forced to upgrade or risk application failure as future versions are made available. • The dll should check for a developer’s license only while in a development environment. The test utility should support the following functionality: • The test utility should be able to connect to AIMSonScene via the API. • The test utility should allow the users to register and deregister with AIMSonScene. • The test utility should listen for and display all outbound API events and messages. • The test utility should allow users to test all API calls by selecting from a list of commands and entering data into the required fields. A non disclosure agreement will need to be signed prior to finalizing the agreement. The existing API documentation will be provided after non disclosure has been signed.
