We're looking for bids to produce a project to these specifications:
Currently we have a site that is built on Drupal CMS (which pretty much sucks). However, it essentially works enough for everything except managing our directory & networking service. This directory is primarily intended to serve as public profiles for our member firms and their investment professionals. What we need is a new branch of our website that would be completely separate from our main site. It would be based off a database I have designed, and would require a new front/back end (you would have total design freedom). Below I've listed the project parameters:
Timeframe: Aim for Nearing Completion within six weeks, sooner is better. (e.g. on or before the week of September 3rd)
Core Site Features - Front End
• Account creation/management
- Initial Profile Setup
- Private Messaging system (i.e. internal mail)
• User modifiable profiles (think LinkedIn)
- Profiles for VC Firms, their investment companies, and the user base
- Java- or HTML5- interface for end-user input/editing would be ideal
+ We'd like these to be cool looking
+ Ease of use is most important
- Support for user-uploaded profile documents (profile pictures, resumes, etc...)
• Site design using our existing style (I have a document with all the colors, fonts, etc.)
- Layout & Design are totally up to you, we'd like it to be visually distinct from our primary site, but still follow our brand guidelines
• Easy to use browser-based admin panel
- The people who will be administrating the site are not technically adept, it needs to be simple for their sake.
Core Site Features - Back End
• MySQL database as primary back end
- Directly editable using ODBC or other software layer if possible
- We want to be able to administrate/data mine using filemaker or Access, which both use ODBC. However, Access has other means of linking to a MySQL database.
• Watertight & Expandable design
- We'd like to have some solid documentation on the overall design/programming so we'll be able to expand and add features in the future
