All code involving asynchronous winInet requests is always in C or some other language. Never in VB. I need VB code to handle asynchronous winInet requests. What I really need to do is timeout a request if a site is down. If a site is down, using regular synchronous requests, InternetOpenUrl locks the program up. I want to be able to set my own timeout in a callback function so this doesn't happen.
I've scoured a few samples on the Internet and haven't been impressed. If your code isn't original, that's fine. But what I DO require is JUST the functionality I need. I don't want FTP and other frills added in which will make the code large and confusing. I don't particularly want a custom class either. A module is fine. I just want to be able to time out InternetOpenUrl. That's all. So if you're in possession of ready-made code, delete all of the ftp and other frills please.
