Attached is a CSV file containing a list of 2160 football team names. For the Americans among you, "football" in this context means "soccer."
It's a data entry project. For each team name, I'd like to know:
* Which country they play in
* Which league they play in
## Deliverables
Attached is a CSV file containing a list of 2160 football team names. For the Americans among you, "football" in this context means "soccer."
It's a data entry project. For each team name, I'd like to know:
* Which country they play in
* Which league they play in
The deliverable will be a CSV file containing the columns:
* team_id (provided in the original file)
* original name (provided in the original file)
* Full team name
* An ISO 3166 two character country code: [url removed, login to view]
* A free text description of the league: E.g. "Premier League", or "Serie A"
In the case of international teams, the league should be "International"; in the case of international youth teams, the league should be "International Youth 16", ""International Youth 21", etc, where the number indicates the maximum age of the player.
The league names should be consistent throughout the document. So, if "Serie A" appears in one place, it should not appear elsewhere as, say, "Serie_A".
The full team name should be entered for entries where the original name is abbreviated ("Middlesboro"), misspelled ("Ankar Pern" should be "Ankar Perm"), or ambiguous ("Stuttgart" - which team in Stuttgart is it?). In cases where the raw name is sufficient it is not necessary to provide a full name.
It is possible that the database contains spurious entries which do not exist. Those teams should be allocated a country code of "XU" and the league left blank.
Some team names may be ambiguous, and could describe one of many possible teams. If it is not possible to determine which team we're talking about purely form its name then the country code "XA" should be allocated and a comment placed in the League column to indicate what the ambiguity is.
If a team appears twice in the list then one instance should be annotated normally, on the other instance(s) should be assigned a country code of "XD".
This project would suit a football fan. You will almost certainly need Internet access to try to research some of the more obscure football clubs.
Deliverables are
1) A complete CSV file as described in the project description. It must be substantively correct. We will select 100 rows from the table at random and will expect an error rate of less than 2% for payment to be made.
2) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law.
## Platform
The work is platform independent. Note that a .csv file is a .csv file. Submitting a Windows Excel document is not acceptable - you'll need to export it to be a .csv file first.
