The project? is just a utility that allows clients and their professionals to transfer and store documents securely via SSL protocol.
Often called "client portals" or "secure file transfer" programs, they
are used heavily by CPAs and Financial Planners. I'm sure there's also
a market for insurance agents, attorneys, and other professionals who
need to transfer and store documents securely through encryption.
?
There are a few programs on the market but they either charge per
client or for the amount of storage. Those two options make it very
expensive for most firms, typically $10-$20 per client per month.
There are very few competitors, they are not very good, are very
expensive, and work on a subscription basis.
?
Our website is hosted at Yahoo with almost unlimited space and
additional space is very cheap. Yahoo also has SSL capability at no
extra charge. So, my concept is to build a utility that can be
placed on any hosted website that has SSL capability with an interface
to allow:
?
-client login, with password
-view list of documents
-upload or download files
-administration
?
It would just require a user and admin interface and minimal database
capabilities to store the logins, passwords, and documents.
Potential revenue sharing? opportunity - I'm? thinking of reselling? the package where that could just be dropped into Yahoo for a one-time fee, and maintenance fees for updates. Being a CPA and financial planner, I know how to get it to the market quickly.
