Send / Recieve mail directly from AOL servers using perl and linux. I provide Example Files: [login to view URL] contains 10 aol usernames (ScreenNames) one per line delimited by newlines. [login to view URL] contains a 300 Char Text Message. you will create: [login to view URL] a simple perl script that is easy to read and modify sendaolmail contains the following function: - login aol subroutine, arguments are: $resultcode = loginaol("LOGINSCREENNAME" "PASSWORD") return code is status 0 means login okay, 1 means bad password, 2 means other error, or what ever status data the AOL server returns i can decode this information later. - aol heartbeat check subroutine, does a check if aol is still connected and responding, and login is valid, reutrns zero if aol is still available, 1 if we need to login in again.... send mails one at a time subroutine, return status of attempt to send mail 0 okay, 1 no such user, 2 full mailbox, 3 system error, 4 timeout (if you just get a hex result number back i can decode that meaning later) $status = &sendaolmail("ScreenName", "Subject", "MessageBody"); very important note: sendaolmail must send the mail the same way the AOL windows client does NOT from outside the aol system using SMTP or a MTA. the mail should be sent from the login screen name that logged into AOL.... regarding checking mail: you create [login to view URL] which contains: openaolmail subroutine, returns a number of mails to be download fetchaolmail subroutine takes which message number as an arugment to download and returns ($SUBJECT, $BODY) subject and body to caller. ($SUBJECT, $BODY) = &fetchaolmail($MessageNumber); let me know if you can do this and how long it would take, payment terms. research: ----------------------------------------------------------------- there is aol client software on ftp://[login to view URL] i can provide a login and password for testing. there is already someone who has written a windows mail sending / downloading client. someone has documented the aim protocol and how to talk to aol servers.
