Are you looking for a unique opportunity to be part of a high profile web development project?

I need to build a complex new website and am looking for a team of two or three web developers that can help me do it. The site will serve a particular user group and will display significant amounts of weather related information so if you have worked on weather sites before that is an advantage. The site will form the heart of a new business I am starting.

The site will be very similar in functionality to the website: [login to view URL]

Except it will look different, have more embedded map features (GIS) and ultimately have a different purpose. The site will need to display weather charts as shown on the following website:

So you need to be confident you could code the willyweather site and be confident creating charts similar to seabreeze which are not out of the box and require customisation. I have already secured specialised IT services to pull in weather data from external sites and load it into a Database on my server. A Database schema has been drafted but the DB has not been built yet.

I am currently getting a visual design done for the site and am now looking for 2 or 3 experienced web developers to build the front end, code the functionality, build the Database and create an API to sit in front of the Database.

The API will serve data to the front end and also to mobile apps when they get developed. I want the API to be created in Ruby on Rails and I would like Ruby used on the front end where possible. At least one of you will need to be Ruby skilled.

If you have worked with OpenLayers Maps and charting applications like JChart or HighCharts that is an advantage so list that in your response. Ideally the entire site is developed on an open source stack. I have not secured servers however I will be utilising Amazon Web Services so if you know their product offerings well (ie Cognito, ELB) and can architect a product solution to meet the site needs that is an advantage. Having experience in ad servicing is also an advantage as the site will receive revenue from advertisements.

I will create user stories to help guide development of the site. I have a good idea how the site will be organised and have listed the feature set I need on each page.

I need developers that can

- refine the user stories I’ve created

- create a reference architecture for the site

- document all functions to be coded

- code the front end

- code the back end

- set up a caching system like Varnish and get the site running fast

- test the site end to end

- Commission and go live

- (TBC) Maintenance of the site

- (TBC) Mobile App development for IOS and Android

I am looking for a team of people that can help me build this site, support it through Go-Live and if possible provide maintenance into the future. I believe it would be best two have two developers and maybe a full time tester once we are ready for them (If you think otherwise I am open to suggestions). I am an IT project manager by profession and have a fairly good idea of what I want but I need some quality, dedicated developers to help me do it. I am not looking for run of the mill programmers, you will need to be talented and show me examples of complex projects you have worked on. If you are a company offering your services I will want to meet the programmers working on the site not the sales people. As mentioned above, I will need mobile applications developed for the site and if you or your team could do these as well that is an advantage however not mandatory.

Please continue reading the project brief in attached file. Word limit here prevented me continuing.
