Add additional audio format support for an open source streaming server

Add additional audio format support for an Libshout and Icecast. Icecast is a GNU open source streaming media server which currently supports audio streams. Libshout is a library for communicating with and sending data to an icecast server. Libshout and Icecast currently support MP3 and Ogg Vorbis file formats. Icecast streams via HTTP protocol. The major work is to understand the open source codes, and then add additional modules to support ADPCM (.adp) and PCM (.wav) audio formats for streaming. This mainly involves: - libshout: to send the stream in the particular format to the streaming server (icecast) - icecast: to interpret the particular format and stream it to the client The modules to be added can be written in analogous to MP3 and Vorbis formats existing in the open source. The ADPCM and PCM formats are in fact a lot simpler than MP3, since they are very old codecs. The source codes and documents of Icecast and Libshout can be downloaded from: [login to view URL] Windows build under Microsoft Visual C/C++ platform is available. The work is estimated to be completed in two weeks. Required skills: - Multi-threaded C programming - Experience with GNU open source - Familiar with MP3 file format and other audio formats - Experience on media streaming is a plus, but not required ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
