The app needs to be able to run on an Android tablet running Lollipop or later. Tablet will be a 7” model like the ASUS ZenPad Z170C-A1-BK with rear-facing camera. An API will be provided for communicating with a Database. The app will be directly distributed to the tablets and does not need to be available in the Google Play store.
The app should begin with a login screen where instructors will enter a username and password. There is no need for username/password recovery as the logins will be controlled by software outside the scope of this app. Failed login should display an error.
After a successful login, the API will return a list of classes that the instructor is teaching. The app should display this list of classes and store for later use. The user will tap on the class that they want to track attendance for. This class selection screen should also display a logout option.
After the class is selected the QR scanner should display on the screen. There should also be an option for the user to manually select a student. If the user selects the manual entry, a drop-down with a text box for a 9 digit ID number entry should display. The user should also have the option from the QR screen to return to the class selection screen.
When a QR code is scanned, a confirmation message should be shown to the user. If the scan failed or encountered an error (e.g. a non-attendance code is scanned), an error message should display before returning to the QR scanning screen. If the scan is successful, the app will then in the background immediately post the data of the scan to a Database via the API. A message should display indicating success or failure. The app should then return the user to the QR code scanning screen.
When the user is finished scanning the QR codes, they will tap the button to return to the class selection screen. From the class selection screen they should be able to log out or select a different class to begin scanning attendance.
Project must be completed within 7 days of acceptance. Source code is required to be submitted at completion of project.
