I would like to find a provider who can accurately Matlab model the workspace of a delta robot used for 3d printing. I would like a calculator that can show the resulting workspace when taking the following inputs: 1) Length of the delta rods, effector and working platform size 2) Maximum usable height of the vertical slide 3) Distance from centre of print bed to the position of the vertical slide 4) Offset between the centre of the vertical slide and the centre of the upper delta rod joint 5) Offset between the centre of the delta platform (effector) and the centre of the lower delta rod joint 6) Vertical distance between the hot end nozzle and the centre of the lower delta rod joint. All these inputs are discussed from the standpoint of one tower, there are 3 towers located at 120 degree from each other with each the same characteristics. The solution must include a way to visualize the resulting build volume that can be reached with the effector remaining parallel to the surface at all times. Diameter and Height of the build area should be visible along side a graphical representation. Please show me that you clearly understand what you are talking about when placing a bid.

Hi Richard, I am very interested in working on this project. The topic is fascinating to me personally, and I think I could do the problem justice. I have built previously built three 3D printers, including one of my own custom design. While I have not constructed a delta printer yet, I have inspected a few in person and also am familiar with several designs through the RepRap community. Given my experience with 3D printing, I understand the components you've mentioned (e.g. hot end, print bed, etc.) and the mechanics. For example, I understand the necessity of using vertical slide movement to keep the effector level while each layer is being extruded. As a PhD student in a dynamics lab at Cornell University, I use Matlab on a daily basis and am very comfortable with the math and the programming. Our lab uses Matlab for modeling of walking robotics projects. Thanks for considering. Regards, Matt

Hello, I am a Mechanical Engineer experienced in Matlab. I own my own 3d printer, so am familiar with 3d printing in general and also with the Delta Robot (or Rostock 3d Printer). Using some trigonometry I will be able to accurately define the area of the workspace. My plan is to mathematically define the printable area using trigonometry and the input variables. Next I will write some Matlab code to take those values and calculate the diameter and height of the printable area. I will then have Matlab create a visual representation of the workspace with a size reference. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you! Thanks, Nathan Davis
