Help needed setting up 80mm thermal receipt printer on Debian

I have a 80mm thermal receipt printer (USB interface) and I would like to get it to print something from a laptop installed with Debian Jessie. What do I want to print? Answer is don't really care, "Hello World" would be fine. It's not so much what is printed but how I configure Debian so I get something output.
Instructions must be through Skype (messaging not voice). I have Debian setup on a separate laptop with a thermal printer connected.
