I have worked on a job VERY similar to this. Only it was in the other direction: converting a sophisticated Excel document with lots of VBA automation to Java! In a previous job (at a physical office), I was required to go deeply in depth of VBA to turn an Excel document into what was almost a stand-alone program, with many pages and a GUI, all driven in VBA. Then, I was tasked with rebuilding that into a stand-alone Java application (not applet) installed onto the user's computer. And my employer provided financial services, so it had to be accurate! While I cannot show you the applications to you due to a non-disclosure, I can provide my resume if we chat. I may be new to Freelancer.com, but I have many years experience in Excel, (and Access), VBA, and Java 5+. The only gotcha I worry about is that you're going from Java to VBA. You can do a LOT more in Java then you can in VBA, so I need to see what your requirements actually are. Some things may be just too ambitious for Excel and VBA. I normally work on the weekends or in the evenings of weekdays, Pacific Time in the U.S. Besides chat here, I have some access to Skype. Since I am hourly, I can do a few hours a day, or a burst of hours at the end of the week as you prefer. Thank you. John D. (jrdsoft)

I had did something similar but from C++, the user wanted to have a understanding and update the functionality. I had made the mistake of doing it via the VBA code but later made to change it to pure Excel formulae as there was nobody to maintain and upgrade my VBA Code in the company. It was fairly simple as I had already done it once and it was all of the issue of transferring it to Excel formulae. Although it was large and cumbersome, but it satisfied the users as nobody was a programmer there but they certainly knew their way around Excel formulae. However, since you just want VBA Code of which I consider myself a guru in, there would not be any problem. I consider myself quite capable and look forward to speech to you regarding the project.
