Design a Medal

GWN Dragon Boat runs the Walgreens Major League Dragon Boat series of events throughout North America. Dragon boat is the ultimate team sport, welcoming all paddlers regardless of age or fitness level. It is an steeped in 2,500 years of Chinese culture and tradition, yet is a modern paddle sport. Our events represent the cutting edge of the sport with world-class racing and festival experiences. As such, the medals awards should match the experience. Themes we use in our marketing collateral design: 1. Asian inspiration (motif and dragons) 2. water / waves 3. Teamwork 4. The design must be an instant classic that captures the magic and beauty of dragon boating. The successful design will be a piece of art. It is more about design and shape, than just a logo. Included is a PDF of designs that we like and should be used for inspiration. (Great Medal [login to view URL]) We want a unique design and shape. The front, back and side could be used for design. Cut-outs, colour and other materials can also be used. Please look at the samples images closely, this is the style of medal we are looking for. Each medal is attractive in its own way, because the shape is unique, the use of cut-outs makes each interesting in its own way and the use of more abstract patterns for design. Simply put, a medal with a picture of a paddle or dragon is not going to work. The old design is included for reference. (Old [login to view URL]) The final design must be provided in AI format and files for any fonts must be included. Size Requirements: 1. Medal Size: 3" - 4" wide / high 2. Ribbon Size: 1" - 1.5" wide / 36" long 3. Thickness: 3mm - 5mm Medal Design Requirements: 1. Must incorporate the event logo (included Event [login to view URL]) and it can not be separated. 2. Must incorporate the MLDB logo or the words Walgreens Major League Dragon Boat (included MLDB [login to view URL]) 3. The back of the medal must have an indentation for a plaque 40mm wide / 15mm high 4. The date / year is not be included 5. If a colour is used it should be pantone 485c. Ribbon Design Requirements: 1. Must include the year (2016) 2. Must incorporate the MLDB logo or the words Walgreens Major League Dragon Boat (included MLDB [login to view URL]) 3. If the colour red is used it should be pantone 485c. Files included: 1. Event [login to view URL]: to be incorporated into the medal design 2.
