A .dll file to send keyboard keys to a simulator (windows based) that can be callled in lua

We use lua to script vehicles in a simulator, We want to be able to call a function in a dll that will press any key (specified as an argument from the function call) We've previously tried AHK and similar, and although they would work they popup a dos box which takes focus away from the sim momentarily which we don't want to happen We can provide a copy of the sim for your own use.

Hi, This looks like it should be straightforward although I am not completely sure what your software simulator looks like yet. I have been working professionally as a software engineer for Qualcomm, Inc. for 25 years and programming in C / C++ for most of that time. A recent project also included an embedded Lua script interpreter so I have some experience with that as well. Also, many of my past projects have been Windows based so I am quite familiar with that as well.
