I copy and paste into Excel but the numbers are being registered as text.I would like the numbers converted so that Excel recognizes them as numbers, and i can use mathematical equations on them.I race bicycles and these numbers represents each [login to view URL] is five columns(3/2H 23°/3Q 3°/3 4/5 4/15T).I want to break each column number up into two columns. I would like to make one column for the number(s) before the / and another column for the number(s) behind the /. The letters represent a fraction(H=1/2,Q=1/4,T=3/4,)So instead of 3/2H in one cell i would get 3 in one cell and 2 1/2 in the adjoining cell(I was 3rd,2 1/2 lengths behind leader).I want to be able to compute how many places i lost/gained during a race and how many lengths i lost gained. The degree symbol (°)has no purpose but i would like something to represent it so i know it was [login to view URL] BOLD in the cell where the (°)used to be! The letters behind the / is the only letters i am concerned with since they represent fractions(Q=1/4,H=1/2,T=3/4,HD,NK,NS=1/7(1.5).Letters like DIS-x don't mean anything so they can stay the same. Well hi, i m serious freelancer with 100% completion rate (you can check my profile by clicking on my name), this macro isn't hard, i would suggest doing this: First, i would create a macro that will fill your table, based on example you gave. Next we would discuss, where to insert new columns, so you can easily see positions/lengths gained after each lap. I plan to complete the project via writing an Excel macro contained in a separate XLSM file. This approach makes further use of the macro very convenient by offering a Control sheet containing cells populated by the usual Open file and/or select folder dialogs to identify the current input and output files and hosting command buttons (e.g. to launch the macro with a single click) and other controls if necessary. Of course the macro shall calculate position/length gaines and losses. Further use of macros, fixing of bugs and minor changes are included in the bid without any additional fees. Regards

Hello there. I have high Excel and Visual Basic skills with great professionalism. I study electronics and computer engineering at Oporto university and I'm looking for work to fill the blanks on my schedule. For your project I would develop a code that would fill the columns from I to R with the properly formated numbers which would be usable for calculations. The code could also provide a small report (on the adjecent columns) saying how many positions and lenghts you lost and gained in each row. Also, if you want to convert only some manual picked rows I can develop that too although I was thinking since you want them all converted, the code would read each line and see if it is converted or not and in case it isn't, it would convert it. I'm experienced with these types of codes. You can see my past projects for example. The last one was an american football file that would calculate differences between each week for each team. Hello! First, thank you for posting such a detailed project description. The work required is extremely clear, along with your example in the spreadsheet. I am an Excel expert and have a very large amount of experience with data manipulation (such as this) through VBA code (the code used to write macros). To accomplish the goal of this project, I can add a button to your sheet that, when clicked, will automatically go through the entire data set and perform the required calculations.
