I'm a mechanical engineer, designer, modeler and inventor with over 15y experience in designing, modeling and effective manufacturing of different products, devices and systems which spans across multiple industries. As far I could imagine, you want a "sipping" device which to be attached to a can (of beer, cola, soda, etc) which to allow user to sip and not spill the drink. From your description - which lack of several important elements, is necessary that the hollow needle which make the hole in the can to have an oposite hollow needle in order to allow air get into the can and to avoid creating the low pressure situation, when the liquid will stop spill. In order to create this, you gonna need a gasket which to seal the can into the cylinder, both hollow needles to have a check valve, and both needles to punch the can simultaneously. If I understood correctly the demand of the project, I can do it in the most profesional manner, and make sure it will work flawlessly when launched in production. I will better explain you how I'll make this model if you'll open a msg channel here and stay for a discussion. In the first place I'll make a primal model on which you'll ask for adjustments/modifications/changes. Once the final model finished, I'll deliver you the CAD files in different formats (iges, sat, step, stl - for 3D printing), 3D pdf to view the model and its components into the Acrobat Reader, and detailed drawings.

What a brilliant idea! I think I have most of your description down pat, but I'm a bit unclear on what the degree finder is. Did you want the popping-mechanism to be weighted so the piercer is always at the top of the can? If so, a simpler solution may be to take advantage of the way people naturally hold a can while drinking (thumb toward the floor, four fingers toward the ceiling) so that when the can is held in preparation to shot-gunning, you naturally hold the piercer toward the top (near your four fingers). Either way, I'd love to help you design and implement this concept! Some background on me, I'm a trained engineer, with experience in taking products from concept to commercialization. The bulk of my professional experience is in medical device design, but I do have experience in consumer products. I'm fairly new to this site, but already have two happy clients in product design (one was a food container with a unique mechanism, the other an agricultural tool).
