I need a schematic and the parts needed for a version 2 prototype. I have built the first version using a Teensy micro controller and a microSD to store data and would like to get the board as small as possible with only the necessary components . Doing so is now beyond my knowledge and capabilities. What's needed... -I am running a 128X64 OLED screen with VCC, GND, SCL, & SDA. -5 buttons -on board permanent solution for data storage. Can be pretty small, I'm using a 128mb Micro SD, and I don't think I need that much storage. -As far as a micro controller, my script is about 50kb, and using the TeensyLC is more then powerful enough to run everything (but it could be over kill, I just picked due to space needed for my code) -I'm currently using a small Polymer Lithium Ion Battery 3.7v 40mAh to power it. This is to save space. Would love some feed back if this is overkill and I could use something smaller. -Using the micro USB to load the code -the USB is also used charge the Lipo Battery with a MAX1555EZK+T -lastly a switch to turn on and off the device. That's it in a nut shell. A Schematic including all the parts needed, resistors, capacitors, etc.. and some input on the best way to power the prototype with a battery is what I'm looking for. My main concern is space, I'd like to create a PCB as small as I can.

Hello! I see that your main concern is the space constraint. So, the big components in the design are the attention magnets for the designer: TeensyLC board and the OLED screen :) Are you going to use TeensyLC, as a board, mounted on your custom PCB, or are you only going to use the microcontroller on the TeensyLC on your custom PCB? If you use it as a board, then it will be big, however if you somehow manage to put it under the OLED screen, the end solution will only be thicker, instead of being bigger width and height-wise. So, the question here is, what are the dimensions of your OLED screen? On the other hand, if you use the chip-only solution, it would be pretty small! You can buy pre-programmed TeensyLC bootloader chips directly from Teensy website, also add in a blank MKL26Z64VFT4 TeensyLC chip and you are good to go. Here is the link to the bootloader chip: [login to view URL] Also, one thing to note, I think that MAX1555EZK+T will be an overkill, since it is an expensive IC with features that you would not use. I would instead suggest using MCP73811T-420I/OT from Microchip with the same footprint. MAX1555EZK+T is $1.84 and MCP73811T-420I/OT is $0.5, and both solve your problems with same quality, you decide :)

About the battery question, I think that battery is ok, but I would like to know the max dimensions, if the charging feature is not necesary, maybe a little battery like cr2032 would work fine. If you provide a basic list of components with references for the OLED display and the basic schematic of the device, I could draw your final schematic and the final PCB design, I work with KiCAD, a powerful open source software for electronics designs.
