Data collection from Excel workbooks and PDF documents - repost

The data to be collected from the PDFs can be found on the Main Statistical Tables. For example see page 31 of document “88 to [login to view URL]”, located in military expenditure (4). The data collected from the Excel workbooks can be found on individual tabs for each country. The variable to collect is Military Expenditures (MilEx or ME) in Current Dollars (NOT constant dollars). This variable must be collected for every year and every entity (country, region, or organization) that appears in the given document. The units must also be collected (Million Dollars or Billion Dollars). Note this is very important because the units are different for each document. Occasionally the letter “E” will appear next to the expenditure data — this can be left out of the data collection.
