As a native German speaker and a professional journalist with almost 20 years experience, translation from English into german and vice versa are a daily routine. It's what I do both while on news desk duty and for private clients. Topics and subjects are irrelevant, and I am comfortable in accomplishing anything from legal texts to official documents (e.g. tax return forms, etc.) to technical manuals, academic (e.g. medical) papers and general news reports and feature stories fast and accurately. Although I am able to use CAT tools, I generally don't need to use them, except for cross-checking unusual terms or uncommon idioms and expressions. Upon request, I am prepared to submit to you some samples of my work, both published and in raw copy. Please also note that my bid amount is a guesstimate. Actual remuneration will ultimately depend on the volume and length of individual copywriting/translation pieces depended. The same holds true for delivery time. While I can comfortably translate a feature story (1,000 - 1,500 words) within a couple of hours, lengthier work assignments, for example a technical manual comprising 50 or more pages, would obviously and typically require several days. I categorically proof-read before any submission.
