I am starting a travel blog and I would like to use a graphic design for my homepage image rather than a photo. The site is called Passport Addict. I would like the graphic design to be panoramic and I'll be using it as a full-width banner.
The imagery should focus on travel elements landscapes, mountains or iconic sights. I'm quite drawn to movie blockbuster posters and how they insert so many different elements in a subtle way and I'd like my image to draw on that to give it that'epic' 'adventure' feeling. Colour wise I don't have a preference. Some areas to maybe explore: blue (sea/sky), green (tree's/forest) white/grey (mountains/clouds). The theme is obviously travelling but it doesn't have to stick to those colours if you feel a better end design draws on other colours. I am very much a backpacker traveller rather than someone who enjoys luxury travelling. If you can fit it a backpacker in the image that would be great. Overlaying the image I'll add 'Passport Addict' so if you could allow for that in either the upper left section or the top middle section. I'll then add a call to action button probably on the bottom right of the image. I'm not sure what it will say, possibly something like "get started" or "start here".
I have another element that I would like to explore but I'm worried it will clutter the image with the other 'travel' elements. I really want to focus on is "travel hacks" I have a lot of content for optimising the travel experience through financial info, health and fitness, product insights. Anything that can help improve 'how' people travel rather than writing about locations and where to stay. It's a really important part of my target audience so if you can do anything with that I'd be really chuffed. Maybe something subtle like the matrix code in the background but really faint, almost so you couldn't see it (that's me thinking out loud. Here's an example of something I like from another travel blog: http://www.dangerous-business.com/ This one uses a watercolour effect which you don't have to stick to but it's a good example of how lots of different travel elements are used as well as identifying the personal niche of the blog. In her example, Lord of the RIngs

“Ahmad is the only developer I've worked with that's been capable of translating exactly what's in my head and on the page (brief) into a design that meets and exceeds expectations. I am already lining up more work and it's Ahmad I want to work with. He was so patient with me, making amends and talking through ideas until we got it perfect. He's an extremely talented young man and I hope to be working with him many more times to come. ”
