The contest is basically the design of a self closing hinge mechanism (used in doors) similar to the ones in the market such as a spring loaded hinges, but with a clutch incorporated to slow down the mechanism towards the end of its stroke preventing doors from slamming shut but just coasting to a close. The design must be with manufacturing in mind.
The winner must incorporate technical 2d drawings , tolerances, 3D step files and an explanation of how the mechanism works. The mechanism must be unique novel and manufacturable.

Hello there, i have done some research about the thing you want. You asked to design a clutch based spring hinges, but as far as a understood there is another hinge needed which is clamp based hinge to control the speed, in every single door. So that would be one clutch based hinge and one clamp base hinge for a single door. Do you want me to design both hinges for you or the sole clutch based hinge?

  In other words, the clutch hinge is spring based and the clamp hinge is hydraulic based. So this makes the hinges a spring/hydraulic mix mechanism.
